Air Quality Update

13 February 2017

Back in November 2016 we were alarmed by the announcement, via a press release, from Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council that they were discontinuing the use of the automatic air quality monitoring station on Leicester Road, Nuneaton, by the gyratory system ( see previous News item). Following that announcement, we have been working on the issue to try and get more information. At the Full Council meeting on December 7th 2016, Michele Kondakor asked a question at Full Council. The question and reply can be found in the minutes of the meeting, here on page 7/8.

Following the Council meeting, Michele also submitted some questions to both Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Warwckshire County Council, under the Freedom of Information Act. She also spoke at the Warwickshire County Council and Nuneaton and Bedworth Overview and Scrutiny Panels when Air Quality was being discussed. The papers for these meetings are here and here.

The recording of the NBBC meeting is below.

The details of the material from the FOI request are available here.

There has been coverage in the Nuneaton News.

We draw the Council's attention to statements from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and The Royal College of Physicians regarding the importance of tackling air quality.
